Why this site exists

Most first trips to Ireland begin with too many pins on a map. The distances look short and it is tempting to fit Dublin, Kerry, Galway and Donegal into the same week. In practice, getting between them takes time, however you travel. This site helps you work out what fits and what is better saved for another trip.

How the journeys are put together

Each itinerary is planned as a trip you could comfortably follow. We look at how you will get around, where it makes sense to stay and how much you can reasonably do in a day. That may mean travelling by train or bus, exploring on foot, or hiring a car where public transport is limited.

Some famous stops are left out. That is usually deliberate: trying to cover everything makes for a miserable holiday. We explain the practical details, including journey times, advance bookings, seasonal services and weather-dependent plans, so you can decide what works for you. Each journey shows when it was last checked, and we update the details when things change.
